I've started well for Manchester United but I can still improve, insists Van Persie

Robin van Persie has insisted there is still more to come from him after he scored twice to give Manchester United their second Champions League victory of the season.

The Dutchman struck either side of half time to keep his side top of their group after Pantelis Kapetanos gave the hosts a shock early lead in Romania.

While he was fortunate to see his goal first loop into the net off his shoulder, Van Persie's second was an exquisite first-time finish, and the 29-year-old admitted it could be the pick of his seven Red Devils goals to date.

When asked if it was his best goal for the club so far, he told ITV: "Maybe, I have to look at it again. But it felt good when it came off my foot."

Van Persie was quick to praise strike partner Wayne Rooney for the assist for the goal, adding: "Everything starts with a good pass, not many players can hit a pass like that.

"It was good build-up play before the goal, and when it came to him I knew that he could see that pass and actually give it exactly the way I wanted it.

"I think it's the first time we've both started together, I think we're very both pleased with that. But we're doing it together - Chicharito played really well today, we have Danny [Welbeck], we have lots of good strikers."

The Netherlands international has thus far proved to be worth every bit of the £24 million United paid Arsenal over the summer, with seven goals in his six appearances so far this season.

Van Persie, however, was keen to stress that he hopes there is still much more to come.

"I'm on the way. I'd like to make more assists, as I've said many times, it's not only about goals. I'm on a good run, but it can always be better," he said.
