The former Arsenal midfielder suggested that all good sides need an element of good fortune to be successful, but insisted the Blues were more than worthy winners of Europe’s leading club competition.
The 25-year old Spaniard's side were edged out by Roberto Di Matteo’s men in the semi-final, losing 3-2 on aggregate in a two-legged tie.
And, speaking in the build-up to Barcelona’s Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on Friday, Fabregas claims destiny played a leading role in Chelsea’s triumph.

"People say they did not deserve it but when it's your year, it's your year,” Fabregas told The Independent.
“It's like when Andres Iniesta scored the goal against Chelsea in the last seconds at Stamford Bridge the year we won the treble."
Fabregas also highlighted the strength of the English top flight, claiming the victory was an extraordinary feat for a side who finished sixth in the Premier League table.
"Chelsea had some luck but all the teams that win it need that, and you can only congratulate them," he added.
"It says a lot for the Premier League that they have five or six teams that can beat anyone in the world, and next year it will be even worse. It will be tough for the rest."
