Around 200 Gunners supporters were involved in a scuffle, throwing cans and bottles, as local officers sought to intervene in an altercation with the home side's faithful
Arsenal fans have clashed with Italian police in the build-up to their Champions League match away to AC Milan.
Around 200 Gunners fans are believed to have thrown cans and bottles at the law-enforcement officers, who had arrived to break up some trouble between opposing fans.
Police confirmed to Goal.com that they have quelled the trouble, which occurred in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele area, with attention now turned to the situation in and around San Siro.
The Arsenal supporters reportedly also threw alcohol and verbal abuse at their opposite numbers and attempted to chase them into a local arcade before the authorities intervened.
In the clashes that followed, one English fan is claimed to have suffered a head injury with another arrested before order could be restored.
The scuffles are said to have taken place in the Piazza Duomo, where fans were gathering in anticipation of Wednesday evening’s first leg of the clubs’ first knock-out round tie.
