Former Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Real Madrid should silence out-of-line Jose Mourinho.
Hitzfeld's unenviable assessment of the 'Special One' comes off the back of a week of controversy following Barca's 2-0 win in the Champions League last Wednesday.
Weighing into the heated debate, Hitzfeld, writing in his weekly Kicker column said: "Mourinho has damaged the reputation and image of a legendary club.
"Surely Mourinho knew he would be criticised and that happened after his remarks.
The former Bayern Munich trainer ended his weekly piece by urging Pep Guardiola's men to respond to Mourinho's rants with a fine performance on the field in the second leg.
"Barca should make him pay on the pitch."
Hitzfeld is only one of three coaches to have won the Champions League with two different clubs as he completed the feat with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich
