Marseille Could Have Progressed Past Manchester United - Defender Rod Fanni

Marseille defender Rod Fanni feels his side could have ended Manchester United's Champions League dream.

Olympique de Marseille defender Rod Fanni has voiced his opinion that the French side could have beaten Manchester United in Tuesday's Champions League clash if they had taken their chances.

United opened the scoring after only five minutes of play and the full-back admitted that the start could hardly have been worse for Marseille, but that they squandered openings of their own to progress.

"We've a feeling we could have gone through. That didn't happen but we had our opportunities – we didn't take them, Man United took theirs and it was the more efficient team that won." Fanni was quoted as saying by Uefa.com.

"It was the worst scenario, conceding so quickly. We didn't do too badly after that but didn't take our chances. We attacked more after the break because we were a bit tense in the first half. We could have got back in the end despite starting too timidly.

"They've got good movement and are very strong on the counter-attack."
