The Bayern captain pointed out that the most effective team came out winners on Saturday evening...
Bayern Munich were unable to break down Inter's defence in Saturday's Champions League final and were eventually beaten 2-0, much to the disappointment of holding midfielder Mark van Bommel.
"The most effective team has won the final. We had way more possession than Inter and got some chances to level the score after the break," said Van Bommel to NOS.
"We are almost always better than our opponent. We got the chances to score, but we failed to find the net today. Inter were always alert on the counter attack and that's how they decided the match.
"We lost possession in the Inter area and they doubled their lead after a quick attack. That's typical Inter and we should have been more alert. Their strength is reacting to their opponent.
"I didn't congratulate Wesley Sneijder with the win until the final whistle. We are always capable of scoring a goal and you never know what could have happened then."
