thumbnail Hello,

The Brazilian says their outstanding work ethic could lead them all the way to Madrid.

Inter centre-back Lucio was over the moon last night after helping the Nerazzurri reach the last eight of the Champions League for the first time in four years.

A Samuel Eto’o effort proved enough at Stamford Bridge to complete a 3-1 aggregate win over English giants Chelsea and Lucio revealed the secret behind Inter’s new-found winning mentality on the European stage.

“Yes, we can win the Champions League,” the Brazilian international enthused on Sky Sport Italia.

“I think we all do an important work together. Sacrifice is Inter’s strength. The character of this team is an extra weapon.

“We were fantastic here, we poured our hearts into it, and that’s too important.”

Jose Mourinho surprisingly opted for an offensive 4-3-3 formation on his return to his former home, but Lucio insists he was not at all worried by the Portuguese’s decision.

“I wasn't, because I know very well everyone’s defensive work,” he mused.

“Even [Wesley] Sneijder, who protects the midfield, was crucial to give us balance and stability.”
