'The Special One' refuses to be drawn on Balotelli's omission…

Inter defender Marco Materazzi has revealed the exclusion of Mario Balotelli from the Nerazzurri squad to face Chelsea tomorrow in the UEFA Champions League is purely tactical.

"Mario was not in the squad against Catania because he had a problem with his knee, but today it's a technical choice,” he told Corriere Dello Sport.

Balotelli’s omission from the squad caused big news and prompted numerous reports suggesting the youngster had fallen out with coach Jose Mourinho again.

Mourinho today refused to be drawn on his decision to omit the Italy U-21 international from the squad, saying he preferred to talk about those who are playing.

“I will not explain his [Balotelli] exclusion because it is more important to speak of those summoned,” he said.

“Balotelli is not playing, he will not be on the bench, so I don’t talk about him. Why should I?"
