Arsenal Midfielder Denilson Praises 'Amazing' Samir Nasri Strike

Arsenal defensive midfielder Denilson has praised an ‘amazing’ goal by Samir Nasri in the Gunners' 5-0 victory over Porto at the Emirates on Tuesday night that sent them into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Brazilian came on for Nasri after 73 minutes, which was not long after the Frenchman scored what has to be considered one of the goals of the tournament.

Playing in place of injured captain Cesc Fabregas, Nasri danced through three Porto defenders in the box and sliced a clinical finish past Porto 'keeper Nelson from an extremely tight angle.

“An amazing, amazing goal,” Denilson said after the game.

“The most amazing goal in the Champions League this season for me.”

With injuries to crucial players such as Fabregas, William Gallas and Aaron Ramsey it is an encouraging sign to Denilson to see Nasri and the rest of the squad respond with such a resounding victory in a pressure-packed game.

He said: “It doesn’t matter who is playing, Samir has come and played in Cesc’s position and showed he is very important for us.”

With Arsenal advancing to the last eight, Denilson knows that a pre-season objective of the Gunners is within sight.

He added: “When we started the season the Champions League was a big goal for us. Now I think we are in a strong position.

“We will continue to fight, to play and to train, we have to win."
