Milan director Umberto Gandini is hoping the club's good record against Manchester United will see them through to the Champions League quarter-finals after the two teams were drawn together in today's last 16 draw.

"We are ready for Manchester United. They won the group and are a very strong team. They were runners up last year to Barcelona and they play great football," Gandini told Sky Sport Italia after the draw.

"It will bring back memories of the 2007 semi-final against them. We played the perfect game back then and it took us to the final, we hope history can repeat itself. In any case we are ready for them."

Gandini was eager to remind his side to pay attention when playing against players like Wayne Rooney and company.

"We have to be careful and watch for players like Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and the rest of the squad."
