Inter president Massimo Moratti is ecstatic that the Nerazzurri were able to defeat Rubin Kazan 2-0 and progress to the knockout stage of the Champions League.

He has also renewed calls for Mario Balotelli to be given another chance by Italian national team coach Marcello Lippi, given his dominant display this evening.

"Tonight, we really played a great match," Moratti told the club's official website, Inter.it.

"All the players gave their best, and I think that [Javier] Zanetti was instrumental.

"Balotelli? [Inter coach Jose] Mourinho speaks highly of him, otherwise he would not have played him from the start of the match.

"Mario has the qualities that can decide a match at any given moment.

"I would like him to be representing Italy. But now we must think about going forward, always trying to play like this on every occasion.

"We hope to go as well - and better -as we have during the last two seasons."

Moratti does not want to evade any team during the next phase, and is prepared to take them all on.

"Who do I want to evade? No-one. There are nine days to go [until the draw]," the president concluded.
