The president thinks that the team had used their energy up against Inter in the Derby d'Italia, and had little in the tank for the Germans...Juventus president Jean Claude Blanc had high hopes going into the Bianconeri's clash with Bayern Munich, but is "disappointed" that his side crashed out of the Champions League after losing 4-1 to the Bavarian giants.
Blanc believes that the team left their energies behind when they played Inter on Saturday night in the Derby d'Italia, when they defeated Inter 2-1.
"I am greatly disappointed but we have to move on," stated Blanc in a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia. "Bayern played a great game, whereas we played badly.
"We left our energy behind against Inter. On a physical level, we were not there. [Bayern] were also great and this made the difference.
"We understand the fans' disappointment as we also had high hopes too, so we understand it. But the fans have to be with us even in moments of difficulty.
"The best team won on the night."
The president also cleared up any doubts over coach Ciro Ferrara's position, saying that the former defender would be staying put.
"Our project is strong and must go on. We carry on as before. Ferrara? Obviously I confirm Ferrara as our coach," he concluded.
