Atletico Madrid Were Second Best Against Porto - Quique Flores
The coach says his side will bounce back in the Primera Liga on Sunday...
Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores admitted that his side were second best after suffering a 3-0 UEFA Champions League defeat at the hands of Porto at the Vicente Calderon.
Goals from Bruno Alves, Falcao and Hulk gave the Portuguese outfit a convincing victory against Los Colchoneros, who had to rely on Chelsea to claim a place in the Europa League.
"We were a second late to every single ball and that makes things difficult," Flores insisted afterwards at a press conference.
"It's hard when you go two goals down inside fifteen minutes against a physcial team and they were comfortable."
Flores insisted that the Atleti faithful have a right to voice their frustrations at the result but promised that the team will give more in their next league game, a crunch showdown at the Calderon against a resurgent Villarreal.
"The fans are demanding and I'm glad they are. They expected a better performance from their team. I am convinced that we can give more. I thank them for coming and tell them that on Sunday we'll have the best team possible so they come with the idea of enjoying the game because we can push things forward next Sunday," he declared.
