Standard Liege Likely To Miss Dieumerci Mbokani In Final Champions League Game
The Belgians have been hit with another injury problem as one of their most gifted offensive talents seems destined to miss a brief spell in the run up to Christmas...
Reigning Belgian champions Standard Liege will probably have to make do without Dieumerci Mbokani in their final Champions League game against AZ.
The Congolese attacker picked up a calf injury during his side's 2-0 away loss against Arsenal last Tuesday and was forced to leave the pitch midway through the second half due to the knock.
According to a report on the club's official website, Mbokani underwent further examination on Thursday. A scan indicated that the 24-year-old has torn a calf muscle and will be unavailable for around two weeks.
The gifted striker will definitely miss the Belgian league games against Sint-Truiden and Germinal Beerschot due to the injury and will most likely not be match fit in time for the game against AZ on December 9 either.
