Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey allowed his emotions overcome him, as he was very happy helping the Viola progress to the knockout stage of the Champions League.

The Gigliati were able to defeat Lyon 1-0 to lead Group E on 12 points.

"Tonight, I am very happy," the shot-stopper told Sky post-match. "Even if I am French, I feel Italian.

"We are a more mature team compared to last season.

"At home, we feel stronger, and are able to play our own style of football, and this is important.

"When I play against French sides, I give a little more because I have been a victim of the national team.

"Tonight, I am happy to have entered into the history books of Fiorentina.

"We wanted to leave a lasting impression, and have been able to do so," concluded Frey.

The 'keeper has been constantly overlooked for his national team by coach Raymond Domenech, despite some stellar performances for his club.
