Cesare Prandelli In Seventh Heaven After Fiorentina’s Emphatic Victory
The Viola smashed five past their hapless Hungarian opponents…
Goals scored by Adrian Mutu, Dario Dainelli, Riccardo Montolivo, Marco Marchionni and Alberto Gilardino, were enough for the Viola to take their points tally to nine, five clear of the third placed Liverpool.
The coach, Cesare Prandelli, was thrilled with the victory, and is in awe of the strength of his side in this edition of the competition.
“The team has certainly found a good balance, which we are now turning into results,” Prandelli explained to Sky.
“At the beginning of the season, we would only have been able to dream about being in a situation like this in Europe, but we continue to grow with every game we play, and we are now very close to qualifying.
“We have been working hard to improve our work rate when not in possession of the ball, and this is also showing.”
Prandelli went on to briefly discuss the match against the Hungarians itself, before making mention to some injuries his side picked up in the clash.
He added, “We were about to complicate the night, as we let them back on level terms just before half time.
“But we started the second half with the right intensity, so we were fine. We had to maintain this tension though, and that is something we did.
“Injuries? Mutu has a slight strain, whilst [Cristiano] Zanetti took a knock to the knee.”
