Just too easy for Arsenal as AZ struggle and barely make impression...

ARSENAL

Almunia - 6 - A quiet game with little to do as Arsenal dominated 

Eboue - 6 - Unexpected pick, but enjoyed his evening with several overlaps

Gallas  - 7 - A comfortable evening spiced by a few attacking forays

Vermaelen - 7 - Like Gallas, rarely troubled and made a few runs forward of his own

Gibbs - 7 - Showed no nerves in replacing injured Clichy, attacked well and almost scored with a low right-foot shot

Diaby - 7 - Scored a fine goal, tackled well, worked hard and did a great team job

Song - 6 - A straightforward evening's work in front of the back four

Fabregas - 8 - Two goals, total control and enjoyed being the mainspring of the Arsenal midfield

Nasri - 8 - Scored the goal of the night with great skill and composure and proved he is on his way back to his best

Van Persie - 7 - Bright and alert, had chances, but may have been sharper with his finishing

Arshavin  - 8 - Created three of the goals and demonstrated again that he has the vision and technique to open any defence

 

Substitutes

Ramsey - 6 - Did all he could in short period, but caught for pace and exposed on AZ goal

Eduardo - 7 - Sublime back-heel to send Arshavin clear to set up Diaby's goal showed his flair and quality

Rosicky - 6 - Enjoyed a cameo in the closing stages

 

AZ ALKMAAR

Romero - 5 - Embarrassed twice by Fabregas and flapped without authority

Moreno - 6 - Worked hard, but could not cope with pace and variation of Arsenal attack

Jaliens - 6 - Had a tough night stemming the tide but worked hard at keeping tight on Arshavin

Moisander - 5 - Struggled to dominate against elusive quicksilver Arsenal attack

Mendes da Silva - 6 - Produced moments of imagination, but had little opportunity to shine

Schaars - 6 - Did little to make an impression as Arsenal controlled proceedings in midfield

Poulsen - 5 - Worked hard but his passing let him down

Martens - 7 - Worked hard on both sides of midfield and produced some thoughtful touches to match his industry

Dembele  - 6 - Showed pace and power to beat Gibbs in first half,b ut did little else

Holman - 6  - Worked hard, but had no chance to shine

Pelle - 7 - Looked a potential danger and worked hard to create openings

Substitutes

Lens - 7 - Took advantage of Arsenal's sloppy defending to score consolation goal and worked hard

Pocognoli - 6 - Tidy and industrious

Wernbloom - 6 - Not enough time or opportunity to impress
