UEFA president Michel Platini has once against stated his that belief that the €94 million Real Madrid paid Manchester United for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo was "outrageous" and said that clubs should not be spending more money on players than they are generating.

"I've already told Florentino {Perez, Madrid president], I feel it's an incredible amount. I still find it outrageous that a club will spend €200 million on new players, but if the club has it, I can not do anything. Florentino has the money. We say not to spend more money than is generated," Platini remarked.

"I cannot enforce it on the [national football] federations, but those involved in the Champions League will have to have good accounting. The rule says that you can not spend more money than is generated."

Platini also revealed that the presidents of Milan and Inter and Real's city rivals Atletico Madrid have asked for the spending cap to be introduced to the game.

"Today there is an international crisis and the owners do not want to spend billions. [Milan president Silvio] Berlusconi and [Inter president Massimo] Moratti has asked me to. Also the Atletico president [Enrique Cerezo]seeks a rule for not spending more than is generated."
