WOLFSBURG

Diego Benaglio – 6.5:
Had relatively little to do throughout the match, and any saves he was required to make were merely catching practice.

Sascha Riether – 6.5: Was comfortable in possession but in the final third was as ineffective as his attacking colleagues.

Ricardo Costa – 7.0: Dealt easily with the relative threat of Nihat Kahveci and Bobo, and he limited that pairing to long range efforts on goal.

Alexander Madlung – 6.5: Similarly to Costa, marshalled the back line with comparative comfort and was rarely tested by a defensively-minded Besiktas side.

Marcel Schafer – 7.0: His superb cross in the first half should have been converted by Dzeko, and his enterprise on the overlap offered an extra attacking option for the Wolves.

Makoto Hasebe – 6.0: Showed endeavour in midfield but lacked any creative prowess and was hooked with half an hour to go.

Josue – 6.5: Was dominant in the early part of the match, but as his side failed to capitalise on their great start, so his influence on the clash soon waned.

Zvjezdan Misimovic – 7.0: A player of real quality, Misimovic offered a creative spark that sometimes found him to be on a different wavelength from his team-mates, but was also wasteful in promising set-piece positions.

Christian Gentner – 6.5: Offered a link to the front pairing, and was involved in some neat interplay, but in the end struggled to break down the Turkish defence and found space to be at a premium.
Edin Dzeko – 5.0: A dreadful evening for the usually-reliable Bosnian. He missed two clear headers in the first-half, and then hit the post from close range in the second. A night to forget.

Grafite – 5.0: Started the match slowly, and then his petulant red card in the closing stages saw him red carded and subsequently ending his sides’ chances of winning the match.

Askan Dejagah - 5.0: Replaced Hasebe in the second half, but couldn't provide the necessary spark to win the match.

BESIKTAS

Rustu Recber – 7.0: The often-irrational stopper flapped at a few early crosses, but was a calming influence in the second and was sharply from his line to deny Dzeko on a number of occasions.

Ibrahim Kas – 6.0: Was involved in Grafite’s red card, and he made the most of the Brazilian’s unwarranted slap to ensure the striker was dismissed from the pitch.

Tomas Sivok – 7.0: Dealt with the physical presence of Grafite, and man-marked the forward out of the  contest with an assured performance.

Matteo Ferrari – 7.0: Faced up to the threat of Dzeko and Grafite, and let the former free for a pair of headed chances that should have punished Besiktas. However, he stayed strong and deserved a clean-sheet display.

Ibrahim Uzulmez – 6.0: Was limited in his forays forward due to Wolfsburg chasing the win from the off, but stayed strong and offered adequate cover for his central defenders.

Ekrem Dag – 6.5: The versatile midfield player was at times caught out with the strong start to either half from the home side, but recovered to be an important player in his side clinching a point.

Fabian Ernst – 7.0: Managed to get his foot on the ball as the match went on, and was involved in an intriguing battle with Josue in the centre of the pitch.

Michael Fink – 6.0: The German returning to his homeland can be pleased with his display, and always attempted to retain possession to relieve the pressure on his defenders.

Rodrigo Tello – 6.5: The Chilean was always available to collect the ball and feed the front pairing, but like the rest of his side, had to be vigilant to suppress the attacking efforts of Wolfsburg.

Nihat Kahveci – 6.0: The former Villarreal striker has been far from prolific in recent years, and the one clear chance that came his way ended up over the crossbar as he rushed his shot.

Bobo – 6.0: Tried to get in behind Wolfsburg whenever possible, but was given little quality service to work with and in the end cut a frustrated figure.
