Defeat To Rubin Kazan Is Just A Slip - Barcelona President Joan Laporta

He congratulates the players for their effort...

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has played down the significance of the Blaugrana's shock defeat to Rubin Kazan in the UEFA Champions League, describing the 2-1 loss at Camp Nou as a "slip" for the champions.

A goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic shortly after the interval was not enough for Barca, as goals from Aleksandr Ryazantsev and Karadeniz Gokdeniz gave the visitors a surprise victory in what has become a very tight group.

"It was just a slip. We must accept the defeat and look ahead. We have not had a good result, but we're even in the group and this can be sorted. I'm sure we'll get through," Laporta said afterwards, according to Sport.

The president went on to say that Barca cannot always win, and suggested that the performance of the team was worthy of praise.

He added, "We cannot win forever, but I must congratulate the players for their efforts."

Barca now sit level with Rubin Kazan and Dynamo Kiev on four points, whilst Inter are bottom of group F with three, but the Blaugrana face tough trips to Russia and the Ukraine in their remaining fixtures.
