Michael Ballack: 'Experienced' Chelsea Will Improve
Blues will work out solutions to set-piece problems…
Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack thinks that the Blues' massive experience means that they will sort out their recent defensive problems quickly – Aston Villa scored two straightforward goals from corners in their weekend win over Carlo Ancelotti's side.
Ahead of the visit of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night in the Champions League, the German midfielder insisted that Chelsea will get back on track.
"We don't feel the pressure. We have experience, we have a good situation in the group, we are top of the group, we won both games and we have a home game," he told the club's official website.
"We have an experienced team, everybody knows what needs doing tomorrow, but it is still a really dangerous match.
"Atletico did not start well this season and everybody is expecting a win. That is the danger tomorrow.
"We have to be aware of the situation but we are a strong team and the past has shown that we have always played well and always reached, at a minimum, the semi-final.
"We have to work on it [set pieces] because it has happened again – it was just one game but it was really obvious that we lost the game on set pieces.
"We have to be aware of this situation and everybody has to improve their movement and their defensive organisation in the box. We can train for this with a lot of things but if everybody sleeps in a certain situation then we will concede goals.
"It's happened once now and hopefully it won't happen again. We also have to focus on our strengths, which is playing good football and winning games.
"We have no problem criticising each other in the dressing room. A good team with strong players has to do this," he added.
"I am part of the team too, I was there the next day [after Villa] and we spoke about it and now everybody has to make an impact on the situation – me too."
