Despite playing one of European football's strongest sides, Bayern's coach believes his team can bounce back from a frustrating weekend...German powerhouse Bayern Munich host Juventus on Wednesday evening, and home coach Louis van Gaal is looking forward to the highly-anticipated match.
"Juventus are very good," Van Gaal stated on the club's official website. "They’re on form, although they only drew at the weekend. They’re up there at the top of their table. They’re one of the best teams in Europe.
"A meeting with Juventus wouldn’t be special normally. I have to prepare the team beforehand, but I do it the same way no matter the opponents. But I don’t have particularly happy memories of Juve. When I coached Ajax Amsterdam, we lost to them in the Champions League final on penalties."
The Dutch manager also spoke about the influence of Bayern's domestic loss against HSV on the upcoming Champions League clash.
"Defeats always have a negative influence," he confirmed. "We’d won five games in a row and our confidence had grown. We thought we’d be level with [league leaders] Hamburg by now, but instead, we’re six points behind. But life goes on, and fortunately we have Juventus on Wednesday, when we can start winning again."
