Lyon's Benzema Could Play For Anyone - Lionel Messi
Karim Benzema would hold his own at any of Europe's biggest clubs, according Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi believes that Olympique Lyonnais' Karim Benzema is good enough to play for any of Europe's major clubs, but was not keen on comparing the French star to any legends of the game.
The Argentinian has been impressed by what he has seen of the Olympique Lyonnais forward and believes that he could hold his own in any of the teams with which has been linked, including Barcelona.
Benzema will be one of the key players that Barcelona will have to stop in Stade Gerland tonight, and he is expected to use the tie as a shop window ahead of a summer move.
"With his quality he could play anywhere," Messi told Le Parisien. "He is a great goalscorer with his own style. He has talent and is very intelligent.
"Nobody should compare him with Ronaldo or [Zinedine] Zidane, like they have said, because things like that are never good because each player is unique," Messi explained.
The Barca forward does not want Benzema to play too well when he comes up against him however, as he hopes to to push on and help the Blaugrana to win a unique treble this term.
"I hope that we can win all three trophies because this team has incredible potential," he concluded.
