Teams

Atlético Madrid:

Coupet: 6.0
- Hardly had anything to do all game except pick out a couple of high crosses and pick the ball out of the net for the goal.

Seitaridis: 6.5 - Made some great forward runs with the ball and at the back he looked composed and for once resorted to no-nonsense clearances rather than try anything fancy in defence.

Ujfalusi: 5.5 - Took a lifetime to react for the goal and was dragged towards the ball on a couple of occasions when he should have been marking another player. Not his best performance but did make some good headers to clear the lines at the end.

Heitinga: 5.0 - Got shook up as he took a knock early on in a collision with Isaksson and maybe that affected his game as he made a few uncharacteristic errors. Gitfed Méndez a great chance when he headed it back to him in the first-half and although he cleared off the line in the same incident it was not a vintage display.

Pernía: 5.5 - Was sound enough going foward and going back but his delivery was very poor all night. Got into some good positions and wasted the chances with below-par crosses and sloppy passes.

Maxi Rodríguez: 6.0 - Has looked far from his best for a while and again tonight he didn't look to have that spark that makes him the player he is. Did made some good runs though and was in the right place to blast home for the crucial second goal.

Maniche: 6.0 - Controlled the game at times but then he also gave away possession too easily and allowed PSV to break with the ball. Had a fair amount of shots, none of which hit the target, and all round it was an average display from the Portuguese international.

Raúl García: 6.5 - Was composed in midfield and rarely wasted the ball when he got it to feet. Won some key battles with the PSV forwards and was an important player for the home side tonight.

Simao: 7.0 - Has been in great form lately and made some really good runs to twist and turn the PSV defence this evening. Scored the first goal and created some good chances for his team-mates but none of them could take advantage of them.

Agüero: 5.5 - Below-par display from the Argentine who didn't look anywhere near his bright best tonight. Was shackled well by the PSV defence but even with time he didn't look as threatening as he has done in the past and wasted too many passes.

Forlán: 5.0 - A very poor display from Forlán who looked off the pace and made the wrong choices at key moments in the match. Opted to shoot late on when Simao was in acres of space and didn't test Isaksson throughout the match

Subs:

Pablo: 6.0 - Came on for Heitinga and didn't do a lot wrong at the back as he cleared the PSV balls time and time again.

Sinama-Pongolle: 6.0 - Made some good runs but could have held it up at the end rather than try to find Forlán with a tough pass.

Assuncao: 6.0 - No time to influence the game but did make one good tackle in defence.

PSV Eindhoven:

Isaksson: 6.0
- Like his opposite number he didn't have a lot to do and couldn't have done anything about either of the goals that went in.

Salcido: 4.0 - The reason why PSV trailed at half-time. The Mexican defender tried to backheel a clearance for the first goal, which was madness bearing in mind his position, and was slow to react for the second. Looked very off the pace and didn't get back enough when he should have done.

Rodríguez: 6.5 - Solid display at the back from Rodríguez who did well to keep Agüero and Forlán quiet for the whole match. Made some good tackles and also won a lot of the headers in and around the box.

Bréchet: 6.0 - Looked composed at the back and when he did rarely venture forward he was promising. Lost a few challenges though and will feel he could have contributed more to the side maybe.

Pieters: 6.5 - Possibly the best player on the pitch for PSV in the first-half with his attacking runs and searching balls. In the second-half he went missing a bit but still a good performance from the defender.

Méndez: 6.5 - Typically strong performance from Méndez who looked menacing coming forward and put in some really good deliveries from crosses and free-kicks. Maybe lost it a few times but on the whole he had a good game.

Simmons: 6.0 - Not a spectacular display but it was solid and he didn't go wrong too many times. Maybe could have offered more coming forward but did what he was meant to do well.

Afellay: 6.0 - Injured in the first few minutes and only made it a little while longer before he was taken off. Unfortunate because PSV could have done with his pace and trickery.

Dzsudzsak: 6.5 - Was a real threat down the left flank and put in some great balls for the strikers, unfortunately weren't always on the same wave-length though. Nevertheless, it was a good display and he was a good attacking outlet for the away side.

Lavozic: 5.5 - Expected more from the tricky Serbian but instead he was feeding from scraps and didn't make anything happen with the ball. Unlucky to be booked late on but summed up his night really.

Koevermans: 6.0 - Grabbed the goal for PSV and worked hard but with very little reward all night. An average display and he probably should have contributed more to the side going forward.

Subs:

Bakkal: 5.5
- Came on to replace Afellay but went nearly unnoticed for the whole match and offered very little for his team.

Culina: 6.0 - Didn't have a lot of time to play but put a few good balls into the box.

Nijland: 6.0 - A fairly average display and didn't change the game at all.
