Moving Back To The Top Again

Last weekend defending Italian champions Inter temporarily moved into pole position when they defeated Juventus 2-0 in the Derby d'Italia on Friday night. However, Roma's win against Lazio in the Rome derby on Sunday night pushed the Nerazzurri back to second.

At the moment Inter have 70 points from 34 matches in Serie A and are second behind Roma, trailing the leaders by a single point. But the Beneamata's confidence most certainly will have surged after they defeated reigning European champions Barcelona 3-1 at San Siro on Tuesday night. Some suggest that the two-goal cushion makes Inter firm favourites to progress to the final of the Champions League, but Jose Mourinho knows that they have to carry on winning in the league as well.

Surviving The Drop

Only last weekend Atalanta seemed destined for relegation as they were four points from safety in Serie A. However, the morale-boosting and somewhat surprise 2-1 defeat of Fiorentina at home has bridged the gap between them and the 17th-placed side to two points.

At the moment the Orobici are third from bottom with 34 points from as many matches but they have won just two league games on their travels all season. Also, Inter have not lost at home in any competition this campaign, and Atalanta will indeed be massive underdogs in Saturday's clash.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Wesley Sneijder (Inter)

The Dutch international looked creative against Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek and scored a goal too. Sneijder has been Inter's key midfield player in their surge towards a historic treble and against an Atalanta side that are appalling at the back, the former Real Madrid playmaker will be keen to be at his creative best again.

Simone Tiribocchi (Atalanta)

The Atalanta striker scored the winner against Fiorentina last weekend and he will again be an important figure for the visitors upfront. Tiribocchi has scored 10 times in the league this campaign and he will be eager to etch his name on the scoresheet against Inter too.

PREDICTION

Inter haven't been beaten at home all season and they should comfortably collect all three points on Saturday evening.

Inter 3-0 Atalanta
