Kick-off: Sunday, March 21, 2010, 15:00 CET.
Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, Verona.

Mid-Table Comfort

Chievo have secured their survival in the Italian top flight for one more season at least as they are currently loitering around in mid-table. At the moment the Flying Donkeys are 13th in the table with 35 points from 28 matches.

However, the Veronese side have not looked good in recent weeks as they have lost their last two league fixtures. A 1-0 defeat to Bari earlier this month was followed by a 1-0 defeat to Milan last weekend. So Chievo will be looking to stop the rot and returning to winning ways on Sunday as they host Catania.

Almost, Almost Safe

At one stage in the season Catania appeared doomed for relegation but they have marvelously recovered and are currently 15th in Serie A with 31 points from 28 matches. There are no fewer than seven points between them and third-from-bottom Livorno but the Sicilians should be wary of not letting this get into their head.

However, Catania are inching towards the 40-point mark and that win against Inter last week must have certainly boosted their confidence. Catania came from 1-0 down at home last Friday to defeat defending Italian champions and current league leaders Inter 3-1, and the win has surely teed them up nicely for the visit to Verona.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Marcos Ariel De Paula (Chievo)

The 26-year-old scored against Cagliari sometime back but couldn't do much against Bari or Milan last weekend. However, De Paula will be encouraged by his goal and performance against the Sardinians and he will hope to repeat his feat this Sunday too.

Gaston Maxi Lopez (Catania)

The 25-year-old striker might have featured in just seven league games for Catania this campaign but he has looked quite impressive. Maxi Lopez has scored thrice already for the Sicilians and was on target against Cagliari and Inter. Maxi Lopez will be looking forward to scoring for the third successive week.

PREDICTION

Chievo should manage a narrow win but they have to be wary at the back.

Chievo 2-1 Catania
