Kick-off: Sunday, March 21, 2010, 15:00 CET.
Stadio Sant'Elia, Cagliari.

Europe Still Possible

Cagliari might have ended on the wrong side of the eight-goal thriller against Genoa last weekend but they are still very much in with a chance of finishing in the top six in Serie A this campaign. At the moment the Sardinians are ninth in the table with 39 points from 28 matches.

Cagliari have scored lots of goals but they have also conceded lots of them. 41 goals in 28 league fixtures imply that the Sardinians are defensively the third worst side in the Italian top flight and are actually worse than third-from-bottom Livorno in terms of conceding goals.

However, Cagliari have a strong home record and have won seven times in the league in front of their own supporters. Which will be quite a record to boast against a Lazio side that have won just twice away from home all season in the league.

Lazio In Crisis

Lazio are truly, deeply, madly and badly in crisis as the Aquile are just two points and one place above the relegation zone in Serie A. At the moment the former Italian champions are 17th in the league standings with 26 points from 28 games.

Last weekend Edoardo Reja's side lost 2-0 at home to Bari in what was their 12th loss in the league this campaign. Reja was supposed to turnaround things but so far the former Napoli tactician has won just one game as Lazio coach and he himself has admitted that it will be very difficult for the Roman side for the remainder of the season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Federico Marchetti (Cagliari)

The 27-year-old has been good between the sticks for Cagliari and has kept nine clean sheets in 24 league matches, making 79 saves over the course of the season. Marchetti will have to be on top of his game against Lazio.

Sergio Floccari (Lazio)

The 28-year-old has looked good since joining Lazio in January and has scored four goals and provided one assist in the league for the Aquile. Floccari scored against Sampdoria and will hope to do the same against Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

PREDICTION

Lazio are a disaster even under a new coach and Cagliari will be keen on picking up all three points in their attempt to get into Europe next season.

Cagliari 2-0 Lazio
