Serie A Preview: Fiorentina - Genoa
A place in Europe is at stake.....

Stadio Artemio Franchi, Florence.
Concentrating On The League
With their Champions League adventure cut short in controversial fashion, it is now time for Fiorentina to concentrate on improving their position in Serie A. Last weekend la Viola achieved a memorable win against Napoli in Naples and inflicted on Walter Mazzarri's side their first home defeat of the season.
However. Cesare Prandelli's side are a massive eight points off a Champions League spot as they are currently 10th in the table with 38 points from 28 matches. Closing the gap is not impossible given that sides above them are dropping points but the Florence-based side have to maintain their own consistency and win games.
Europe Is Drawing Near
Last weekend Genoa featured in a hugely entertaining game as they defeated Cagliari 5-3 at home. That win lifted the Grifone to seventh in the table with 42 points from 28 matches.
Genoa are just two points off the sixth place and are four points behind Palermo, who are fourth. The Grifone know that they have to win matches in order to climb higher up in the standings and with the fourth spot still very much up for grabs, Genoa will be confident about achieving a Champions League spot for themselves next season.

Probable Lineup (4-3-2-1): Frey, De Silvestri, Natali, Kroldrup, Gobbi; Donadel, Zanetti, Montolivo; Santana, Jovetic; Gilardino Genoa Dainelli, Jankovic, Acquafresca and Polenta are unavailable for the trip to Florence while Milanetto, Sculli, Dainelli, Palacio and Papastathopoulos are struggling. Rossi is suspended. Probable Lineup (3-4-3): Amelia, Papasthatopoulos, Moretti, Bocchetti; Mesto, Milanetto, Zapater, Criscito; Palacio, Sculli, Palladino PLAYERS TO WATCH
Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina) The 20-year-old was sensational against Bayern Munich last week and scored twice and last weekend he was on target against Napoli too. Playing just behind the striker, Jovetic is a crafty young nibble player whose skills are of the highest order and whose strength to hold off his markers is impressive. Jovetic did go through a dip in form sometime earlier, but he is now back to his best and will be a key player for la Viola against Genoa on Saturday evening. Rodrigo Palacio (Genoa) The 28-year-old scored against Cagliari last weekend in their 5-3 victory and has looked good this term. Palacio has scored four goals and provided six assists in 23 league appearances and indeed he will be a key player on Saturday evening for the Genoese side. PREDICTION Fiorentina appear to have recovered after their controversial exist from the Champions League and are also quite strong at home. Cesare Prandelli's side are quite some distance away from a Champions League place but they have a quality side and will be motivated to try to close that gap.
