You have to have been living under a rock - and a very large rock, at that - not to know that William Gallas has been skating on very thin ice at Arsenal over the last few weeks.
The Frenchman was demoted from the captaincy and temporarily exiled after publicly criticising his team-mates and singling out one player in particular - although not by name - for upsetting the squad's morale.
With Cesc Fabregas now wearing the armband the Gunners have begun to move forward, with Gallas reinstated at the heart of their defence.
But the 31-year-old is still reeling from the fallout of his controversial comments, it seems, and he has supposedly told his friends that he wants to leave Ashburton Grove for a more friendly environment.
One of Gallas' close chums told The Sun: “William is not a happy man at the moment.
“He did not apologise to his team-mates over his comments, nor did Arsene Wenger make him do so. But he still feels completely humiliated to have been stripped of the captaincy and is strongly thinking about a move in January.
“The summer would be too far away. He says he is lonely in the dressing room and at training, and he doesn’t really have many friends.”
The former Olympique Marseille man has been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain, but it is understood he would much rather try his hand in Italy's Serie A.
The friend added: “William doesn’t want to return to France but AC Milan have publicly shown their interest in him and that would be an attractive option.”
While the source may be less than reliable, the gist of its assertion is sensible enough: Gallas' Arsenal career is well and truly on the line.
