Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has quashed reports he has grown frustrated with life on the fringes at Old Trafford and insisted he is ready to stay and fight for a place in the first team.
The 25-year-old had been linked with a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, and it had looked as though he might be set to leave the champioins.
However, according to the News of the World, the stopper is ready to stay and fight for his place.
Foster said, “I reckon you only get one crack at Manchester United and you have to give it a go.”
Current goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar recently signed a new contract with the club, however this does not appear to faze Foster, who is clearly hoping to see out the rest of his career in Manchester.
He explained, “For me, this is my club. I want to be No.1 keeper here for the rest of my career.”
Foster signed for United back in 2005 but initially spent two seasons out on loan at Watford, impressing with a series of superb displays.
Although Foster subsequently returned to the Red Devils, he suffered a serious knee injury last season which ruled him out for the majority of the last campaign.
The former Stoke City man has also suffered with injury this year, he was due to fly out to the World Club Championship, but suffered a broken finger on the eve of the trip and missed the tournament.
He is generally seen as the future goalkeeper at Old Trafford when 38-year-old Van der Sar eventually retires, although he will face competition from United’s third goalkeeper, Tomas Kuszcak.
