Manchester United utility man John O’Shea had nothing but good things to say about the club's up-and-coming talents after having lined up with the lot of them during the Carling Cup this term.

Speaking to United Review, the Republic of Ireland international left no doubt as to how highly he rates the youngsters coming through.

"They’ve been brilliant. I see it every day in training and that’s why the manager has given them their opportunity," enthused O'Shea, who was a product of United's storied Academy himself.

"A lot has been made about other teams and how good their young kids are, but ours are definitely up there with the best of them. Just look at what Danny Welbeck did against Stoke. There are others as well - Possebon, Rafael, his brother Fabio, Gibson, Jonny Evans… it’s a credit to everyone at the club as to how well they’re doing."

When asked about his own situation, O'Shea insisted that he has absolutely no qualms about being used primarily as a squad player again this season.

"Being in the team is the be all and end all. It doesn’t matter where you play, you just have to make sure you do your job. I want to play as many games as I can, keep doing well and help the team win trophies."
