Reports in recent times have suggested that the French central defender commanded quite a following in the market, with Milan and Inter especially interested in the Roma star.

Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani was allegedly trying to work out a deal that would see the Roma centre-back move to the Rossoneri in January.

The Rossoneri were desperate to improve their defensive capabilities, considering Paolo Maldini’s imminent retirement and Alessandro Nesta’s constant injury problems.

It was thought that an offer for the player would arrive concerning the transfer market window in a months time, but Spalletti is not interested in any moves for the French international.

“For the moment we need to climb back up the table, and it will require many victories in a row as we have done in this period. To talk about the table we need to work hard to climb it,” said the coach.

Spalletti commented on Mexes. “Mexes is one of the best players in the world in his position, is very talented and works hard. I wouldn't swap him with anyone. His partnership with Juan is fantastic and having them both available has allowed me to change our system of play, using more attackers,” said the tactician.

The Rossoneri have been after the stopper for a while but the Giallorossi continue to deny his transfer, as they have resisted every attempt from the Milan giants thus far.
