The Giallorossi were hovering just above the relegation zone heading into that Rome derby game, having lost eight out of 12 games.

The narrow victory over city rivals Lazio has boosted morale, and this has been reflected in training this week.

Spalletti is hoping the confidence lasts as he prepares his side to take on Lecce this weekend.

"We are working much better and there is more serenity," Spalletti told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"I have always said that when there is tranquility the qualities of the players always come through.

"I changed the formation around because I had trust in the team. The results show that we can play well and get results with a few modifications.

"Packing out the midfield can give many advantages and we will continue to work hard on this model in an attempt to improve.

"In terms of output we are currently working under our capacity but there is still plenty of room for improvements."

The Lupi will be hoping to continue their recovery when they travel to the Via Del Mare on Sunday.
