Pablo Daniel Osvaldo began his Italian football career in 2006 with Atalanta, going on to feature at Lecce on loan before his transfer to Fiorentina in 2007. Since his arrival at the Viola he has done well, but it has been a struggle for him to secure a regular place in the first team.

According to Il Tempo, Roma are keen to sign the Argentinian-born striker, who has seen little play so far this season.

Osvaldo has been behind Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino in the pecking order, with Giampaolo Pazzini and Stevan Jovetic vying for the attacking places as well. Gilardino has done particularly well this season, scoring eight goals so far in Serie A and playing a confident attacking game.

Since the return of Gilardino from suspension, Osvaldo has returned to his old role of warming the bench, and it is likely that the talented striker has had enough of life on the Viola sidelines.

Roma are in need of reinforcements after a terrible start to the season that sees them languishing near the bottom of the table. Depth in the squad has been a problem, with injuries to the attackers threatening to derail the Giallorossi altogether.

Osvaldo may go a long way towards providing a solution to the capital club's problems, and the Italian Under-21 international will be hoping that he can be the man to make a difference.
