The Giallorossi go into the first Derby of the season trailing the Aquile by 14 points and having failed to notch up a win in Serie A since September.
“But Lazio obviously have the edge and favourites usually lose Derbies…” Il Principe joked on Tuttomercatoweb.
The Eternal City outfit impressively defeated Chelsea in the Champions League last week, but had to settle for a single point in the game with Bologna, following Cicinho’s comical own goal.
“Everyone expected a great performance against the Blues and I hope that gave the necessary spark to get back on track and win the Derby.
“I didn’t think the Laziali would be so high-up in the standings this season. They made the right moves in the transfer market, capturing promising youngsters.
“Mauro Zarate is showing all his qualities, but Roma must pay attention to their entire front line, as they are all lightning quick and have great technique.”
There have been whispers that some new recruits might be headed for the exit door next January and also that Luciano Spalletti’s reign is drawing to an end.
“I think it’s up to the club to decide who will be leaving, but I reckon that they can all become important at Trigoria in the long run,” insisted Giannini.
“As for Spalletti, I don’t think his reign is over, as the triumph over Chelsea was clearly down to him.”
