AC Milan were defeated 3-1 at Palermo on Sunday, handing city rivals and reigning champions Inter Milan a six-point lead at the top of the Serie A table following their 2-1 success over Napoli earlier in the day.
The Rossoneri remain third on goal difference behind Juventus who beat Reggina 4-0 on Saturday, but nearing the Christmas break the Rossoneri will want to move up in the log during a hectic schedule of tough games.
After the game, Bonera gave his opinion on the match, after playing a reletively good game and perhaps turning in the best defensive performance.
"Aside from mine and the team's performance, we deserved this defeat," said the young defender. "We must not let our heads down, certainly there is bitterness and disappointment, but have to find the strength to get back on track like we have done a few games before and get our act together again,"
Bonera continued, “Personally I don't think about the table, but I think tonight Milan played below their possibilities. If we had taken the lead with Ronaldinho's penalty it would have been a different game, but now we only have to think about restarting our campaign in the league.”
