The Rossoneri transfer guru has been monitoring the Brazil international since the summer, and Milan's problems in defence have intensified their interest in acquiring a top class centre back.
The 24-year-old central defender currently plays for Brazilian club Fluminense, but he is a target for a variety of Europe's top sides, and in a time when world class defenders seem to be a dying breed, the up and coming stars are high in demand.
Milan's defence is aging, and a combination of advancing years and injuries have caused problems for the Rossoneri this season. Milan have expressed their interest and it has been suggested that Silva would rather wear the Rossonero jersey than the Nerazzurro one.
The reason behind the youngsters preference for Milan may be the fact that he is close to Kaka and Ronaldinho and has reportedly stated that he would love to play alongside them.
There is a problem standing in the way of a transfer to the Rossoneri, as they cannot sign any more non-EU players during this season, forcing them to try and delay the deal until next summer.
