Real Madrid Won’t Have A Chance To Catch Barcelona - Dani Alves

The Blaugrana rightback is confident that if his side keep up their current unrelenting form, arch rivals Real Madrid will not be able to catch them at the top of the summit.

Barcelona successfully maintained their steady 12-point gap over eternal enemies and direct title rivals, Real Madrid, over the weekend thanks to a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Racing Santander.

Los Blancos, to their credit, have managed to keep pace with the Blaugrana, winning their last six games in succession to deny Pep Guardiola’s men any pre-mature celebrations.

But despite Madrid’s best efforts, Barca rightback Dani Alves believes that the capital club won’t be able to catch the Catalan giants before the season is out.

“It is very important to have such a big advantage and if we continue playing like we are now and keep on adding three points to our tally, Real Madrid will not have any chance [to defend their title],” he said during an interview with RNE [Radio Nacional de Espana].

The Brazilian then went on to rub it in: “It must be frustrating for Madrid. They are doing well but we are doing even better.”

The 25-year-old also had praise for Barca’s two-goal hero at the weekend in Santander, Lionel Messi.

“With Messi around, things are much easier because he helps the team so much. We rely on him a lot and when he is on the pitch, that’s when we have to make the most of it,” he emphasised.

Finally, Alves is certain that Messi has now undoubtedly overtaken Balon d’Or winner and FIFA World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo, as the best player.

“Cristiano is a great player who has many qualities which can make a lot of difference during a game. But there aren’t many Gods like Messi around at the moment,” the ex-Sevilla defender declared.
