Samuel Eto'o believes that Barcelona's training methods are the secret behind their incredible run of form this season, but admits that the club have not achieved anything as yet.

The Cameroonian international put the Blaugrana ahead against Osasuna on Sunday and was delighted with the way the team came back after going behind in the second second period.

Pep Guardiola has been praised for his attention to detail since taking over at the helm of the first team and Eto'o agrees that the new regime is working well.

"If you look at the way we train, you know how we can play,” he told the club's official website. “If you train hard every day, you might have an off-day, but only one.”

Victory against Osauna meant that Barça maintained their 12-point lead over Real Madrid, but Eto'o is not focussing on Los Merengues after making that mistake in the past.

“I don’t want to focus on them because I have done that before,” he continued. “We cannot rest on our laurels either because we’ve thrown away big leads before. We cannot afford to become tired of winning.

"Against Osasuna we were not able to handle the game in the first 15 or 20 minutes of the second half."

Eto'o is due to meet Barcelona officials to discuss a new deal later in the campaign but he is no hurry to start negotiations.

“The thing is that it is still far too early to discuss that,” he said. “We are not even halfway through the league season and we do not want to be distracted by stuff.

"When the time is right we will talk about it. Right now I just want to think about training and games.”
