Daniel Parejo was delighted to make his debut for Real Madrid on Sunday and hopes that he can help the team to close the gap at the top of the table to Barcelona if the leaders start to slip.
The 19-year-old saw his loan deal at Queens Park Rangers cut short last month as Juande Ramos was keen to use his talents in Spain. The coach gave the midfielder his first chance to shine at the weekend.
Despite only having ten minutes at the end of Madrid's four-goal triumph against Sporting de Gijon, Parejo was very pleased and hopes that it is the start of things to come for him.
"I am very happy to have made my debut and I will work hard to earn more playing time," AS quote him as saying.
"We also must be happy because we won comfortably at a [ground] that can be very difficult [to succeed at]."
Barca dropped two points at the weekend to allow Madrid to make up some ground at the top of the table and Parejo believes that could happen again.
"We are aware that Barca are ten points ahead and we hope that they begin to feel the pressure," he continued.
"There is still a long way to go and we must believe that we have a chance because Barcelona slipped-up after the international games.
"Juande has said to us that we have to stay on this path and that we are still growing."
