Raúl González believes that Real Madrid will be unable to catch Barcelona in the race for the title if the Catalan outfit maintain their current form.
Los Merengues captain played his 500th game for Los Merengues at the weekend, but he wanted to talk about the championship rather than his personal milestone.
While Madrid won comfortably in the Balearics, Barcelona maintained their 12-point advantage with a late victory at Osasuna and Raúl believes that the Blaugrana are playing well.
"Guardiola's arrival has been important, but I think they can all take credit. They have a good squad, good players and they have instilled the values needed to play attractive football," he told AS..
"We are in good form and what we want to do is to continue winning matches. After beating Valencia and Villarreal at home it was vital to win away and we have done that.
"But there is still a long to in the league. Barça can still stumble, but if they continue playing like they have been then the title will be unattainable. In football many things can happen and we just have to go game by game."
Raúl believes that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will settle in quickly at Real Madrid and has been impressed with Lassana Diarrà's start at the club after the pair joined this January.
Diarrà shone in the win at Real Mallorca at the weekend, while Huntelaar has impressed during training which has led Raúl to predict that both players will be assets to Madrid.
"They are already contributing. Lass has played two games from the start and is doing well by giving real balance in the middle of the team alongside Gago. He is a player with a great future;" he continued.
"Huntelaar is a goalscorer and will have to adapt too and take things slowly. He is showing that he can score with ease and now just needs some games to gain confidence. It will be easier for him too because there are a lot of Dutch players here.
Having made 500 appearances for Madrid, Raúl did admit that he had had a busy week with all the questions about his career, but stated that he will only really look back when he finishes playing.
"I am pleased. I have been with Madrid many years, 14 in fact, and the truth is that when I began I never imagined I would reach these figures, but all I thought about was that I was happy the team won," he said.
"The mass media built things up over the past week and I have talked a lot about the years since I made my debut at 17, but I do not give that all much importance.
"It may all mean more when I decide to retire, but for the moment I believe that I still have some way to go.
"It is a great statistic but I am only thinking about the visit of Osasuna and earning three more points."
