Anyone Can Beat Real Madrid - Cannavaro

It's been a difficult stage of the season for Real Madrid, but with new coach Juande Ramos in charge, it looks as though they have recovered some stability.

Los Blancos beat Valencia at the weekend to enter the Christmas period in fifth place and with the signings of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Lassana Diarra secured, look like they will be revitalised following the break.

However, Fabio Cannavaro is under no illusion as to where the problem lies, and that is with the injuries, as he explained to Sport.es today.

"I want to recover all the injured players we have, then we can beat anyone. With ten injuries as we have though, anyone can beat us," he declared.

In the league they trail by a massive twelve points behind leaders Barcelona and whilst it is a mountain they need to climb, Cannavaro is not ruling anything out.

"I know that nobody has ever recovered a twelve-points deficit to win the league, but our goal is to reduce the gap before we meet them again. Then, after the derby, there will still be five matches," he mused.

Along with the tough task in the league they also have to beat Liverpool in the Champions League if they want to progress any further in that competition. The English side have been marked down as favourites for the tie, but speaking today, this seemed to be good for Cannavaro.

"In the last four years we have got to the last 32, and they have got to two finals and a semi-final...The papers say that they are favourites, and this sits well with me," he opined.

The Italian also spoke briefly about his contract situation with Real Madrid, saying that he is not in a rush to extend it.

"I am not in a hurry. The first word comes from Real Madrid; if they do not want me to renew then I will look at the offers and find a solution, but only after I have spoken to them," he concluded.
