Real Madrid may have suffered a 2-0 defeat, but Royston Drenthe still savoured his first Clásico at the Camp Nou.
Speaking after the match, Drenthe spoke of his enjoyment of the occasion, saying "I'd always watch Barcelona-Real Madrid matches with my dad when I was a child in the Netherlands, and I just played in it. It was incredible. Amazing. I had never been to the Camp Nou. I had only seen it on television. I like to win, so it's too bad we lost.”
He then promised revenge in the return match, stating "We have another match against Barcelona but at home, and we will not lose it. We defended and played well, but one corner... What a pity! They scored twice in the last thirteen minutes, but we're thinking ahead and our next match against Valencia.”
Javi Garcia, meanwhile, also emphasized the positives, saying "We had opportunities that we didn't take advantage of, and that makes it very hard against Barcelona. We have to think about what we did well and that we had chances to win. The team's effort was exceptional until conceding the goal. Unfortunately they scored after we had played really well. We are leaving with our heads held high.”
