The media has reported that he could be close to a move back to Spain, and in particular the capital, but today he denied any knowledge of such a move.
"I am very happy here, it is a club where I feel loved and respected," said the Argentine to AS.
"Obviously the rumours that a team such as Real Madrid have me in their sights is very nice, but I cannot comment anymore because I do not know if it is true or not. Today I enjoy the present, the furture we will see."
Whilst the striker may not be thinking about leaving Genoa at the moment he did confess though that the lure of Real Madrid is hard for anyone to resist.
"For any player in the world it is appealing to play in a team of that magnitude, but I cannot comment on anything further. If anything did happen and was signed then we could sit down and talk," he mused.
Milito left Spain last summer and he has found goals easy to come by in Serie A, already winning the hearts of the fans with some great performances. He confirmed today that Genoa was not the only place that he could have gone.
"There were offers, some concrete, above all from an English team, but at the time Genoa made a great proposal," he declared.
"To have gone [left Zaragoza] in the way I did made me sad because I would have been delighted to have left them in La Primera, but at times there are things that cannot be done."
Whilst one Milito might be in Italy the other, Gabriel, is still in Spain, and is leading the way in the league with Barcelona at present. Diego had nothing but praise for the league leaders when he spoke about them today.
"They are having an extraordinary campaign, with a great coach, who has found the solidity and ambition that is at Barcelona. Without doubt they are the favourites to win the league," he opined.
