The media might be licking their lips as they declare Real Madrid are in a 'mini-crisis' but the players are certainly remaining defiant, the latest of those being Gonzalo Higuaín today.
Following talks between Bernd Schuster, Pedja Mijatovic and the team, the Argentine international has confirmed that everything said was positive and that there is no crisis.
"It has been a positive chat, but what we spoke about will remain amongst the team, out of respect to my team-mates and the club," he declared.
"There is no crisis since we are just two points off the lead and are doing well in the Champions League. Right now we are only thinking about forgetting the cup defeat and winning in Valladolid."
The staff might be denying it but there is little doubt that coach Bernd Schuster is under some pressure at the moment.
Rumours have even started to circulate that if Real Madrid fail to beat Valladolid this weekend he could be sacked. Higuaín did not put any substance to them though as he spoke to AS today, and said that the whole side is involved in whatever happens.
"We are all included in this, not just Schuster," he said.
"We all know that Schuster speaks what is right and necessary and yes, I saw him after the game [against Real Unión] and the rest of the players, as always."
