Mahamadou Diarra, the holding midfielder from Mali, plays an integral role for Real Madrid in protecting the defence, allowing the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Rafael Van der Vaart to roam free. But Diarra is injured again, and to have him missing will leave Madrid's coach Schuster with another problem as the club's treatment room fills with first-team players.

Diarra picked up a thigh injury after coming on as a substitute against Malaga on Saturday evening, and the Madrid medical team have confirmed that the player is likely to miss at least two weeks of action.

Diarra has only just returned from a spell on the sidelines, after previously missing out with a similar type of injury.

The problems keep on coming at the moment for Real - not only have Diarra and Van Nistelrooy been crocked, but 'The Glass Man', Arjen Robben, has also found himself back on the treatment table.

It is a time when Schuster needs all his players available as he finds himself under pressure at the Bernabeu, but his squad is likely to be stretched to the limit in the coming weeks.
