Higuita: Casillas, Valdes & Cech are the world's best goalkeepers

The former goalkeeper has named the trio as the game's finest keepers while revealing his admiration for both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Ex-Colombia international Rene Higuita believes that Victor Valdes, Pet r Cech and Iker Casillas are the best three goalkeepers in the world.

The flamboyant former keeper was renowned for his famous 'scorpio-kick' and was also christened 'El Loco' or madman in tribute to his risky style of play.

The 46-year-old still keeps a close eye on the men between the posts and gave his backing to a trio of star names as the game's best goalkeepers.

"Iker Casillas of Real Madrid, Víctor Valdes of Barcelona and Petr Cech of Chelsea are the best three goalkeepers in the world for me," he was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Higuita also briefly discussed the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but refused to comment on who he thinks is the better player of the two.

"Technically both are very sound footballers and I would love to have both of them in my team," he added.

Higuita currently works as goalkeeping coach at Al Nassr.
