Gutierrez close to Junior move, says agent
The Colombia international is apparently set to return to his hometown team following an acrimonious end to his time in Argentina, according to his representative Efrain Pachon
Colombian striker Teo Gutierrez is closing in on a move back to first club Junior after his manager and agent confirmed that talks were under way to seal a return to his native Barranquilla. The 27-year-old started the year with Argentine team Racing Club, but his time in the country ended in scandal during the first half of 2012.
Teo was banished from La Academia after brandishing a gun at Sebastian Saja during a heated dressing-room clash, and a loan spell with Lanus ended following just two appearances when the player went absent without leave back to Colombia.
Gutierrez has been linked with Junior ever since he returned home, and Efrain Pachon used an interview with Ole to reveal that a positive outcome to negotiations was a distinct possibility.
"[Talks] are very advanced and all parties want to see the deal closed," the manager explained.
Pachon was in Argentina on Monday to confirm that his client would not be continuing with Racing, but admitted that they still required the approval of the investors that hold a significant portion of Teo's contract in order to finalise a move to Junior.
"We are feeling good, but I want to point out that everything is still not arranged and that some details still remain."
Gutierrez finished top scorer in his first season with Racing during the 2011 Clausura, netting a total of 22 goals in 42 appearances for the Avellaneda club.
