The midfielder had no problems in adjusting to international football in the heights of La Paz, and affirmed that he will keep striving for further success

Colombia debutant James Rodriguez has affirmed his delight after an excellent first match for his nation against Bolivia, and thanked his coach and team-mates for making him feel so comfortable in the yellow shirt.

The Porto youngster, 20, made his senior debut on Tuesday in a 2-1 away victory, and earned plaudits from across South America for an accomplished performance in Colombia's first World Cup qualifier. James was a constant threat to the Bolivia defence with his passing and running abilities, and a key component of the team which secured the triumph in the altitude of La Paz.

And speaking on his Facebook and Twitter accounts after returning to Portugal, the former Banfield starlet was effusive in his praise for those involved in the Colombia set-up.

"I am delighted by the massive support that my followers have given me, and satisfied by the way that I was welcomed and supported by the more experienced players in what is a dream come true. I wanted a good debut in my national team and thanks to God that is what happened," he affirmed on Wednesday evening.

"Here we are all stars, we worked for a common goal, we ran and we showed that we can go far."

The cap is the next in a growing number of milestones for the prodigious midfielder. Having only left his teenage years behind in July, James can already boast an Argentine championship with Banfield as well as the four titles achieved in 2010-11 with Porto - not to mention international success in the 2011 Toulon tournament.

In another message to fans, the youngster insisted that he would keep striving for more success.

"I am ecstatic, because at my tender age I have managed many great things and this this spurs me on for what is to come," he added.

Colombia's next World Cup tests will come in November, when they take on Venezuela and Argentina in Barranquilla.
