The former Paraguay international had been out of action ever since being involved in a shooting in January 2010 as he featured for 40 minutes on Saturday
The former Paraguay international and Club America star featured from the start in the Primera B Metropolitana game, but was withdrawn after 40 minutes of play in his first official match since the incident in January 2010. 'Chava' was involved in several attacking moves for the third-tier club, and even won a couple of headers to dispel fears his injuries could limit his aerial ability.
Cabanas, who still has the bullet in his brain, started his professional career at 12 de Octubre, and opted to return to his boyhood club after deciding not to retire following the shooting.
"I never even thought about retiring. I am very happy to be back at the team where I started playing, and which now gives me the chance to make a comeback," Cabanas was quoted as saying by ABC before the game.
The 31-year-old has represented Paraguay on 44 occasions, but missed the 2010 World Cup due to the shooting.
